ADAM & EVE
1999
acrylics, aquarelle and 23 carat gold leaf
on cardboard
16 x 29 cm
“Forever to meet and twine
The branch and the loving vine,
Fiery steam and heavenly dream,
The story of Adam and Eve.”
nspiration for this Eve came when I was consulting a manuscript from the XV° century, The Hours of Anne de France. The unrealistic rendering of her bosom is representative of several paintings of that time. The border, however, is inspired by an early XVII° century Persian manuscript.
This illumination was commissioned for a wedding.
